Android Lollipop Update Coming to T-Mobile HTC One M8 Today

Android 5.0 Lollipop is finally rolling out to HTC’s devices just a week after the Taiwanese smartphone maker missed its self-imposed Feb. 1 deadline to release the latest Android version to its devices.

On Twitter, HTC vice president of product management Mo Versi announced that HTC One M8 users subscribing to T-Mobile’s network will receive the Android 5.0 Lollipop update starting on Monday, Feb. 9.

T-Mobile subscribers follow in the footsteps of Sprint customers who have started receiving the update for their HTC One M8 phones on Friday, Feb. 6. As a page on Sprint’s support website notes, the Android 5.0 Lollipop update for the HTC One M8 will bump it to version 4.20.651.10 and includes the removal of Sprint’s Lumen toolbar, an app generally considered to be bloatware.

The Sprint update comes a day after an internal document that says Sprint will begin releasing the over-the-air update Friday next week, Feb. 13, was leaked online. Sprint has also started pushing the Android 5.0 Lollipop update to the Samsung Galaxy S5 and the LG G3 on Thursday.

HTC has actually been much faster than most OEMs in getting Android 5.0 Lollipop out for its devices. Google Play Edition units of One M7 and M8 already received the update, and so has the unlocked developer edition.

But No word as yet when Lollipop will be available for T-Mobile HTC One M7, or both devices on Verizon and AT&T.
