Now You Can Hashtag an Emoji (#☔) On Instagram

Instagram today has announced a unique new feature. With the new feature you can now hashtag any emoji. This new feature will help you say more in fewer words. So instead of sharing #Happy now you can easily share #☺. You can also now use emoji in your hashtags. Instagram today announced the new feature in a post on Instagram.

Over the past few years, emoji have become part of a universal visual language. And just as we share photos and videos, we use emoji to communicate emotions and feelings in ways that anyone can understand, regardless of language or background. Starting today, emojis will now work within hashtags, so you can discover even more by adding them to your own photos and videos, searching them on the Explore page and tapping on them when you see them in captions.

Instagram is an online mobile photo-sharing, video-sharing and social networking service that enables its users to take pictures and videos, and share them on a variety of social networking platforms, such as Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr and Flickr. Instagram was created by Kevin Systrom and Mike Krieger, and launched in October 2010. The service rapidly gained popularity, with over 100 million active users as of April 2012

Instagram for iOS version 6.11.0 is available today in Apple’s App Store, and these updates will be available today in the latest version of Instagram for Android, 6.20.0, in Google Play.
